Why are the GB games so based? If this was a newer game I wouldn't have the option and I'd be forced into a 5 minute cutscene of my professor catching a rat shitmon.

This. I don't get why tutorials aren't optional and infinitely repeatable in newer games (it's mandatory since gen III, right?). This way you don't slow down more experienced players and also is able to support newer players in a consistent manner.

Still retarded.
I replayed FRGL and I forgot there was a "help" menu if you press R that explains you everything, and even a TV if you want cutscenes.
This way you can help newbies without slowing down experienced players

Yeah right. If it's one thing the new gens do right is making the catch tutorial last nothing. Older gens made each turn last 16 hours.

Also it isn't exclusive to RBY either. This applies to every game until BW1.
