Honestly the anime hasn't been nearly as good as it was back in the late 90s, pokemon was the SHIT back than. It was just about a scrappy kid on an awesome camping adventure with his best friend and his crush, a classic goddamn coming of age tale that wasn't ALWAYS trying to sell shit like that fucking sasuke bullshit they had in XY. It perfectly captured what it felt like to be a kid on the schoolyard in the 90s

The anime was okay in Kanto, meh in Orange Islands, promising in Johto only to turn into utter shit after the massive amounts of filler that came because of the Celebi Arc getting scrapped, then it picked back up with Hoenn and began a slow descent back down into "who the fuck even cares except for Japanese Children" that rapidly sped up with Unova.
