Hmm. It might be too hard to kill now. Even if the series goes to shit, there will be a following that plays fan-games and the already released titles. Even if the franchise just up and stopped making games, the games that still exist will have a niche fan base.

Sorry, OP, but I think Pokemon is unkillable.

The Pokémon Company International is huge. Pokémon is the highest grossing media franchise of all time by far. Even if an earthquake hit Game Freak the Pokémon Company would just set up an even shittier group to run the games.
