Granted, you have to use a team around one or two favorites. You can't just use all favorites (unless your favorites happen to be OU level for whatever place you're playing) but you definitely can just use favorites and do well if you know what you're fucking doing. Hell, you can even get away with some UU level stuff as long as you're making sure to counter team shit.
You'll never win all the time (and you wouldn't want to anyway because you learn nothing from it which is what games are for meaning it would be boring) but you can do very well for yourself. All you have to do is not be a retard.
