How much better? Because even just being a passable game is not enough to make me buy it. There was a time when I felt Pokémon games would be worthwhile experiences that I didn't want to miss out on, and yet here I am years later not feeling regret over skipping USUM and ORAS. Not feeling regret over not completing XY or SM. Not feeling regret over the idea of skipping LGPE. The last time I felt regret over not buying a mainline Pokémon game was B2W2 in 2012 and that was 6 years ago.
In some way, I can see the appeal of the simplicity of the going back to Gen I, but I'd rather just play an actual Gen I game than what is literally Kanto as a mobile game. Pokémon is far from difficult, but there is literally nothing about this game that tells me I'll regret skipping it. What could this even add that would make it a great game? Graphically speaking, it's literally a 3DS game in HD, and not even an impressive 3DS game like Kid Icarus: Uprising, Smash, Xenoblade 3D, or games by that one studio known for pushing Nintendo platforms to their limits. In terms of gameplay, it has cut out most of it and removed any semblance of resistance. Like is this just supposed to be a game about walking? We know the region so it's hard to be excited when we know everything. The music will be up on YouTube before release. Like is there anything that says that PLAYING this game is a worthwhile experience when the gameplay is removing fail states?
