>>36137688Well, gens 6-7 are pretty dire. But I am not sure what angle you're coming from in this. From my point of view, the /vp/ community while certainly aggressive, divided, and spends a good deal of time trolling each other, is still fairly switched on in general. There's a lot of normies here as well that don't really fit in, but overall the community is pretty straight-forward about what it likes and doesn't and what they expect from it.
Meanwhile, even just a glance at communities elsewhere would show you that like a growing number of them are becoming soft versions of ResetEra, more concerned about whether the community is 'inclusive' or not, policing others for their behavior, and circlejerking over 'toxic' aspects of fan culture to have time to discuss video games, much less play them.
And that isn't even getting into how 'toxic' the communities that are chiefly concerned about these 'toxic' fan communities tend to be.
I think all in all, if you're a long-time fan of the series (or any series that's been aggressively dumbed down) most communities are largely either going to be distracted or absolutely full with normies/shills defending them to the end with ad hom and goalpost shifting. Of course, we see that here too, we don't have nearly as many normies/shills floating around.
