>>36142129Eventually the games themselves were datamined and the Pokemon's stats, movepools, and Hidden Abilities were revealed.
Decidueye had decent but not great attacking stats and a great special defense, but it has only 70 SPEED. Decidueye's movepool was bare-bones as it didn't have much type coverage. Furthermore, its Hidden Ability, Long Reach, was situational at best. People expected Decidueye to be this speed demon, but it never occurred. Add insult to injury, Gen VII introduced another Grass/Ghost Pokemon that had better coverage and attack.
Incineroar got the complete opposite. Yes, its speed got lower but its attack and bulk skyrocketed. It has an amazing movepool filled with type coverage and has the coveted Intimidate as its Hidden Ability.
Primarina got the best of both worlds, having amazing stats and movepool.
Decidueye's fans became really bitter that Incineroar and Primarina had better competitive potential than it. Promptly called "owlfags," these individuals start to mock Incineroar's humanoid/bipedal appearance, and all of their fags are baras. Primarina fans were mocked for loving a "tranny seal" (Primarina are male most of the time despite it being feminine looking).
Primarina fans didn't respond to the bait but the baras sure did. This feud between owls and baras intensified as numerous events gave advantages to both sides. First, Decidueye was announced as a Pokken fighter, which made owls mock the baras. Second, Incineroar's Intimidate was officially released, and Incineroar became a competitive beast in VGC. And now, Smash Ultimate has been announced, leaving both baras and owls to wonder if their favorite mon has been included or not.
The war continues to this day.
