After not playing Pokemon for ten years, I'm thinking of picking up Sun or Ultra Sun.

I'm told they're slightly different in terms of story, which one should I go with /vp/?

I only ever played Ultra Moon, but from what I know Ultra Sun has more new Pokemon than regular Sun/Moon. Also apparently the story’s worse in Ultra, but who plays Pokemon for the story?

I've played both, and I suggest going with Ultra Sun. It's basically just a refined version of Sun, with some extra stuff. There's almost no point in getting the first one if you're picking between the two.

Ultra, it's the same game with more shit. Some people prefer one character's motivation in the vanilla version but it's fucking Pokemon, you should priortize the one with more shit in it.

The main campaign I would argue is actually worse in Ultra Sun. But you should still get it because it has some extra features like move tutors (which should have been in Sun) and some exclusive pokemon (which should have been in Sun)

Pacing is a little worse too, as Ultra Sun forces you to go through some extra tutorials for shit like mantine surf and the photo club.

Both have fuckawful pacing though so it's not like it matters too much. It's a pretty awful campaign no matter how you go about it
