they weigh the same amount, are uniquely able to use Transform, and ditto is exclusively found in cinnabar lab, where mewtwo was bred, and in unknown dungeon, where mewtwo eventually went.

the theory falls apart post gen 1 when they just threw ditto wherever, though. it's one of those things that only makes sense in gen 1, like gastly being born of power plant pollution.

I think the line works better with Caterpie when you look at it with Metapod. It makes more sense as a butterfly pokemon that has a different looking form after hatching from the cocoon

Venonat does bear a striking resemblance to Butterfree though

Butterfree has a "nose" that shares about the same similarity with Venonat, arguably even more similar. I'll grant you the "hair" I guess even if it's not much. Where do the feet or antennae go? Eyes are still completely different. All you have proven is that there is some similarity between the two however small it may be I guess. Venonat and Butterfree belong together and this image absolutely doesn't prove otherwise.

The anime has plenty of examples of pokemon being stored on shelves, but trust me storing pokemon as data creates way to many problems and dilemmas.

The simplest explanation is you use a PC to access you storage archive and tele-portal in your pokemon.

Marowak is a ghost because it wears the skull and bone which is scary and related to the dead. It's fire because of the bone which can be used as fire dancer's torch. It wouldn't make sense for Kangaskhan being fire/ghost, but it would be totally great if it would be Ground and Giovanni's ace.
