How are we ever going to get good post game again, when you not only bought these games, but continue to support them and claim they were worth 40 dollars and had tons of content?

How about an actual new huge island to explore? Or a safarii zone/game corner? Or gym leader rematches that aren't ass? Or more battle facilities? Or Legendaries that actually require exploring and have quality side quests tied to them.

WORTHWHILE content, that can be played more than once. Games like Emerald, Platinum, HG/SS, and B2/W2 did this just fine.

Oh, I guess rainbow rocket area is new too. The only new area they put a modicum of effort into, but not much effort because it's mostly a bunch of generic black tile corridors

ONLINE IS NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR CONTENT. and when I mean content, I mean substantial, repayable, engaging content that demands more out of the player than grind to win or baby's first visual novel fetch quests.

Even if online was acceptable, guess what? The fans have created a superior service. It's called showdown. It's fucking depressing that on-cart multiplayer is so gimped, slow and broken in comparison to a cheap browser substitute.

It's even more depressing that Gamefreak expects me to give them my money for tutors and some villain cameos. I might have, if it was 5 dollar DLC. I can't be assed to play Lillie's adventure AGAIN just to get to shit that's not even worth describing as "post game." No, you stupid mongol. Use your fucking brain before you type. STOP DEFENDING A CORPORATION FOR FREE. FUCK. I at least expect as much as they have done before. Why does a gba game out do something released in 20fucking17.

How has showdown not been taken down by gamefreak? Does gamefreak assume it just takes some burden of the server costs or something and showdown players would buy the games anyways?

Yeah, I've basically gotten to this point. I would begrudgingly buy the same game twice just for post game, but if I can't even get that now, I'll just wait for the first version to go on sale and buy it for like 20 dollars used. I'm done paying gamefreak any money for lazy ass games

I assume the company views it like any other fan site. Free advertising. and really, only the most hardcore of fans go to something like Showndown, or shoddybattle, or whatever the fuck was before that. Those hardcore battle fans buy new games regardless of content, because ... tutors? New forms???

Actually, good question. I can only speak for myself, but showdown has no bearing on my purchase decisions. I buy Pokémon for a single player RPG. Which is why the >online multiplayer is postgame argument doesn't hold up.

Yes. How can you even argue on cart is better? It's so fucking slow it can take an hour to do one battle. It's an unregulated wild west where people just spam legendaries, unless you choose "no special pokemon" and then it's just all of the top tier OU pokemon over and over with japanese names. There are barely any options for play formats, and finally hackers are becomming more prominent, so enjoy those teams of 7 megas

Basically. I'd say a sidegrade is a more accurate term as there are areas where it is actually worse than SM.

ORAS is just as lazy. If you've never played a hoenn game then I'd still say give ORAS as shot, but if you are fond of gen 3, there's a decent chance ORAS will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
