Which generation had the best move animations?

I'd say gen3 in my opinion. I just love the gen3 pixel art in general, it's the perfect balance between old and new.

Bonus points to gen4 too

Gen 2 and 3 objectively have the best move animations, gen 5 is decent as well. If you think otherwise you have shit taste.

yeah, gen 3 got it right
the pastel colors, the flat and clean graphics/ui, the crisp sounds, the nice battle screens with the terrain circles, overall the best looking move scenes/graphics/whatever you call it

gen 4 had better sprite designs, from what I can remember, but that's it

You nostalgiafags are deluded. Gen 3 is easily the ugliest gen in the series. Its vomit-inducing colours and garbled sprites are fucking hideous. Half of the fucking sprites are just updated GSC ones. (pic unrelated)
The funny thing is that the GBA is actually capable of DS-quality sprites but they went and did shit like pic related instead.

look at HG/SS; shit is too shiny and undefined, trees are fat and blobby, there's barely any definition and everything is like 1 or 2 colors

you could argue that B/W got the best of both worlds and I do like it, but I still prefer gen 3 overall

I don't even remember gen 4 having terrain circles. I'd say gen 4 battle screen is 1 point better than gen 3, but gen 3 definitely wins in the moves department.

gen 2 had cool sounds for animation, using leer felt like an actual move
gen 3 was okay
gen 4 was good
gen 5 is excelent
gen 6 is uh...i guess it's good
gen 7 it's literally the same

I feel the Stadium games had the most interesting set of animations, to the point of making me want to get as complete a living 'Movedex' as I could in my Gen 2 games back in the day just so I could see them all.
