It didn't have wild areas either, you traveled to cities in a cutscene instead of on foot.
It would have been shit if you had to walk everywhere and have no wild encounters.

The thing is that Colosseum kept mechanics of wild battles with Shadow Pokemon system.

LGPE just threw all that out the window and replaced it with Safari Zone.

This, Colosseum had no Routes and was 100% trainer battles. LGPE has Routes that are all Safari zones.

Pokemon Colosseum still let you catch Pokemon, just in a creative way and would still let you grind.
Also, wild Pokemon are the least of LGPE's worries.

Yeah but instead it has a pointless purification system that stops you from leveling, every Pokémon can kill themselves when you try and catch them, and your choices of Pokémon are limited.
