Having just played through HeartGold again recently I can attest to them being maximum comfy. Some issues in G/S/C are still present (level curve, namely) but the amount of polish and attention to detail is incredible.
Comparing these to OR/AS shows how far the series has fallen. GB Sounds is something nobody asked for or even expected, yet it was added as a nod to older players and fans of the original. Meanwhile the Battle Frontier, a feature many were vocally looking forward to, was excluded for the very reason GB Sounds were included.
