As a genwunner, FRLG are perfectly fine modernizations. RBY have something special about them which I love, but they're definitely deeply flawed and the remakes were necessary.

Just the quality of life improvements such as held items, abilities, Special Defense make it infinitely superior than the buggy mess of a game RBY actually are.

Why? Because unlike LGPE it adds content while staying faithful to the originals. I can't name a single thing that's been cut besides glitches.
