Not only are they fictional magical animals, they're fictional magical animals from an entirely different dimension as the fictional magical animals that we've grown used to. There is literally no reason why they'd follow the same rules of sexual dimorphism as in our world, especially since unlike Machamp and Primarina they don't come with listed genders even in-game.
