I just played crystal on VC with all three starters. All pretty decent when you do it like that. Feraligatr is an absolute boss though. Typhlosion definitely a good team player. Meganium is meh though

I am >>36187083 and I agree with this, though I see from how I worded my post I may have come across as very negative. I think the Pokemon designs especially the starters are mostly okay. Feraligatr tapping into your love of alligators reminds me of why I love Pokemon.

Monotypes need a boost offensively. While you could argue some mons do well in the meta despite that, by and large only having one type is 99% of the time a hindrance and when it isnt it doesnt help at all.

STAB moves by monotypes should do x1.75 instead of just x1.5, so this way monotypes trade coverage for raw power, being more easily walled by specific type walls, but being a better choice for more generally good walls.

It's really hard trying to come up with a typing that can make Water bad. Fire is already a bad typing on its own and Grass has a few key weaknesses of its own. Water's such a strong defensive typing that there isn't really a lot you can pair it with that makes it much weaker without also stating "Oh yeah and it doesn't get any good stab moves".

Why do people say this? Fighting type is about hand-to-hand combat rather than about sword fighting, besides steel type would make more sense seeing that it already has Bisharp, Kartana and Smogon Sword.

The sword gimmick would be less awkward if it was more of a hunched biped. And it would still be able to attack with it’s helmet comfortably (something a humanoid Samurott can’t do)

I didn't say anything about Typhlosion or Feraligatr. For the record, I think Typhlosion's stats are also a mistake since they're 100% identical to Charizard's and don't really fit its movepool, and that Feraligatr is an improvement over Blastoise.

I don't really see what else these designs could be, so I don't care.

I see design elements as a whole (taking into account movesets, etc.) that could make for an additional type in terms of another form like mega evolution but unless you're one of the colors = type every time fags I don't see what types you could want added to these.
