I've found its more fun to run a special attacking lando t because it ignores lando's intimidate. Plus you can usually 2HKO with HP ice and 252+ sp atk and 252 sp def

But this is what makes it viable. Fire Blast takes out the physically defensive steels that otherwise eat it for breakfast, and both Ice Beam and Thunderbolt have niche uses that can immediately kill a target before they suspect they're in danger.

The mega is a guardian angel doggo, regular one shows up to warn people of disasters.
Putting the points into defenses would be a waste, the spatk lets it do much more.
