In my experience mono type run don't work well unless you are using a hack with all Pokemon, so you have enough variety to round out your teams, otherwise you'd use the same team as everyone else running a mono type run on that game.

Isn't the point of a nuzlocke to let your Pokemon choices be decided by chance?
That doesn't work when you are only going for, say, Poison only when the only Poison Pokemon for the next 6 areas is Zubat.

So I started up Red and I already have a full team of six:
Ivysaur (23)
Nidoking (20, Route 22)
Beedrill (12, Viridian Forest)
Zubat (13, Mt. Moon)
Ekans (11, Route 4)
Oddish (15, Route 24)

I think I have been quite lucky so far, all things considered. Also, I'm actually using the TMs I get instead of just saving them indefinitely.

XY is also good for pretty much any montype
USUM is good too. You get an Alolan-Grimer and a Spinirak within the first two routes and then an Ekans, Zubat, and Gastly right after. Poison type variety decreases greatly after the first island though

Kanto games are the only games where you can truly do monopoison.

You have a poison starter, on top of the fact that there are poison pokemon that surf (tentacle/nido-line) and kanto has a metric fuckton of poison types in general

So yeah, it'll be genwun only, but its the only game practically designed for you to be entirely poison with a ton of options from the very beginning..

You can do mono of any type but Ice in Gen 7 IIRC.

X and Y wasn't bad at all for poison type but until you get a bulbasaur from the professor all you have is a weedle to work with. After that the options start to grow a lot with budew, gulpin, venepede, oddish, croagunk, and zubat all within a short amount of time.

Couldn't USUM be fun? There's A-Grimer, EKans, Gasthly, Zubat and Spinarak available at the very beginning and you can get Salandit and Mareanie decently early too.
