I think that what baffles me the most is people who think that she wanted all the fame and glory where there was no fame a glory to be had because she was a literally who and the mission was suicide, or that she should be jailed when that doesn't fit these games at all, or that she was mourning.
The problem with ORAS is that it was poorly written and poorly planned mess as a whole given to an enterely new staff that did what they wanted alienating the fans of the previous game, so in turn everyone shat on almost every single aspect of it specially Zinnia because she's the writer's daughter and therefore she "represents the new and the worst of ORAS", and hit Nukita where it hurts the most. While nobody expected much of XY because it was a fresh new game and people overlooked the poorly made main campaing to enjoy the very well done Looker post-game. Had things be reversed, I bet Emma would be in the same position Zinnia is right now with the fanbase. Both are good characters on their own merit.
Anyways, what's wrong with being a little self-indulgent? As long as you aren't painful about it like the original archetype.
