2008 is a lower poly model with more detailed textures.
2011 and 2013+ are literally the same model but with slightly different colored textures and shading.

They can be cartoonish, that's fine, but would it kill Gamefreak to give them some cool textures? Like, make the reptilian Pokemon have scales or the mammalian Pokemon have fur, and so forth?

Pokken sort of does this and it helps a fair bit. But I mean, run with it. It'd really give personality to Pokemon.

look at Ivysaur's nose, mouth's bump, eyebrows, and the claws.

3D Pokedex has Ivysaur anatomy within the model, gamefreak model have everything drawn on it.

It isn't really that hard to figure out, Joe.
