If you look closely, you will notice that the shape of the road is reminiscent of a big turd being pushed out of an ass. This is foreshadowing how X and Y are the biggest turds in the franchise. Only on the Nintendo 3DS is this kind of graphical attention to detail possible.

Actually it was a straight decline from OoT up until BotW (in terms of home console releases), which bucked the trend and brought the series back to relevancy.
The "zelda cycle" never existed, it's the zelda decline, same as Pokemon. The last game is usually so much worse than what came before it that it makes the previous game look good, that's textbook decline.

I agree but it's still debatable, XY has some great route/town music but the worst battle music ever, SM's is more consistently good

I disagree with this. See the OP pic? That's route 1 in XY, but on SM it's Ultra Megalopolis or whatever, it's the same design, except one is designed to be an early walk through the park and the other to be the entire climax of the story and an opportunity to step in a huge city from another dimension. Both are corridors with nothing in them. Alola is tiny and pulls this shit constantly. Wela Volcano teleports you to the top, it's shameless.

I had my expectations in check when arriving at the Megaopolis and was still disappointed. Still, Alola actually has a post-game area even its not much. XY's Unknown Dungeon fueled me with a rage greater than "battle frontier coming soon!" did. Alola may be a hallway but its a prety one. And the routes/towns look distinctly different from one another more often than not unlike Kalos's flowers and bushes every where thing.
