According to who? Plus, Shadow Ball is just a good move. Psystrike is still Mewtwo's signature move. It's like wrestling.

Psystrike didn't exist in the movies, but I never watched the Genesect one. As for Smash, Psystrike is it's final smash, so, I have no idea what you're smoking. It's literally a kill move in Smash Bros.

Ok, so Shadow Ball WAS it's trademark move. It was it's trademark move because Psystrike didn't exist until Gen 5. It's the main signature move in Pokemon, and it's Mewtwo's final smash in Smash 4 and Ultimate.

As for movies, it's the same "ki blast" spam, I assume, that Vegeta pulls off. It's just a movie/anime thing.

Ignore the other autists in this thread. The reason why Shadow Ball is always seen on Mewtwo is because of the first Pokemon Movie. That movie was the first appearance of the move, and it became the basis for the Smash Melee moveset a few years later, which also is attributed to its notoriety. The only reason why Psystrike isn't as known is because it came into existence at later gens, when Mewtwo and gen 1 wasn't the main focus. Its more about the time each of these things were introduced, rather than the lasting effect of these moves. Psystrike eventually became Mewtwo's final smash, so you're not entirely correct.

The first movie is the reason why I taught my transferred-over Mewtwo Shadow Ball. It was the only move that strongly resembled the one in the movie, so I thought it must have been it.
