There are a surprisingly lot of autists here who insist on exclusively using new Pokémon on their story team in a new generation, and people who think new Pokémon are the entire draw of a new game.

Assuming Gen 8 starts in 2019 and lasts 3 years like Gen 7, we would have gone through 6 years with no new Pokémon. I wonder how many of them would be driven away by even if the games were fantastic.

I'd gladly let them take a set of games off in terms of new Pokémon if it meant they brought back all of the content they've removed (not that it should need to do that as programmers and artist aren't the same thing - especially not the modelers who don't even work for Game Freak being Creatures) but I give zero fucks about the animations.

Especially the literally retarded "idle animations". Only retards move around when idle. Breathing is minimal motion - it doesn't make you flail back and forth and all around.

Honestly, after seeing gen 7 I'm cool with giving GF some time off designing new Pokemon and just having them prioritize polishing the next game instead. Hopefully the extra time to make new designs would mean the next batch of new Pokemon would be a lot better too.

Sorry Gen 7 bros, I just don't like a lot of the new Pokemon. There were some pretty cool ideas in a lot of them though, and alolan forms saved the gen for me, so its not all bad.

While I agree, you also don't stand around doing nothing staring at your opponent while they're preparing attacks without preparing some sort of defensive maneuver.

Sure, I'd press it. There are already plenty of Pokemon right now, I wouldn't mind taking a break from new mons for a long time. I could still make several new teams made up of Pokemon I've never used before. I care way more about gameplay, features, and content than new mons nowadays.

Wow, the amount of people okay with this is surprising. Not saying the animations aren't shit, but I played the games for too long with static sprites that minimal movement animations don't bother me enough. I click so quickly through the menu I don't even notice most of the time.
