Probably because Dark is rare and edgy and Fighting is literally what all combat Pokemon (read every Pokemon) should be. Fighting shouldn't even be a type.

There've been multiple games where Dark type early game shitmons are available early in the game. Like Poochyena, Alolan Rattata, and Purrloin. it's hardly a rare type. Ice and Dragon are rare types.
