The reason the only theatrical releases you ever see using giant scaly animals and calling them velociraptors are Jurassic Park films because universal legally owns the design.
The design isn't even based on the SKELETON of velociraptor OR deinonychus(Common meme for fans, but both are less than half the size, Utahraptor wasn't discovered until the film was released, years after the original concept was drawn). There is NO excuse for any other franchise using it as reference. It belongs to Universal and the Jurassic Park License
