that's the problem. oras did fixed it mostly by lowering the encounted rates, but they could just add more varied pokemon instead of tentacool wingull hell

Why did they kill this? That shit in gen 5(or 6? Idk) where you dive and it locked you into an underwater ruin was such a letdown

It's comically condensed, but it still worked I'd take a micro region if that's what it took to pull it off. You most definitely feel like you've been around by the end, particularly with the League being in its own quiet corner.

I love Hoenn but I'd say Sinnoh has the best level design. The routes simply look really nice and detailed. The environments are varied but not wildly different. Real consistent. Cliffsides, marshes, overgrown fields and snowstorms way up north. Each cave tries to be interesting and unique and they cleverly put the more extreme environments like a desert and volcano in an area isolated from mainland area.

That's the best route in the whole game though. Try comparing to route 225, or 227 instead. The appropriate response to 214 is 121 or 123.

I’ve found every route in Sinnoh to be unremarkable, except for the snow route and the swamp and that was mainly because it was so hard to walk through them.

Even if there were more Pokemon people would still use repels due to wild encounters becoming annoying when trying to explore caves, water routes, and etc.

B2 and W2 had a bit of this with Castelia Sewers connecting to Relic Passage allowing you to get to Driftveil.

This is offtopic but I hate how people say R/S killed Pokemania. Gold and Silver is where Pokemania died.

Also something surprising. Game Freak was already thinking about Diamond and Pearl when first developing Ruby and Sapphire!!

It and Sinnoh have the best level design. Runner-up goes to Unova, though I’d also say that Johto did a good job with its caves and rewarding you for backtracking.
