metal claw charmander is specifically because brock has rock tomb in gen 3, and even then doesn't mean charmander can solo short of bad accuracy on rock tomb (which isn't unlikely)

Filter would help it a little bit. Not a lot, but at least it wouldn't get shot by everything
without filter (both level 14 as if it were the first gym):

that's exactly the problem, anon. They had an excuse in gen 6, being the first 3D games. It was sort of reasonable in gen 7, because of the sheer number of pokemon. But that in LGPE they didn't even bother making one (1) animation, with only 152 pokemon, 151 of them being already modeled and animated, with a region that's a 1:1 from one they had done 3 times already, and given that they went out of their way to give double kick to pikachu, the pokemon the players will most likely be seeing the most in LGP, is just inexcusable.
