No, they weren't. That was due to an incorrect translation on the part of Nintendo of America. Mythicals and Legendaries were always separate groups in the original version ("Maboroshi no Pokemon" / Phantom Pokemon vs. "Densetsu no Pokemon / Pokemon of Legends).

You can't find anything american in unova unless you look incredibly hard.
Meanwhile the Chinese and European parts are right there.
The japanese parts go without saying however they're more apparent in unova than kalos.

My best friend in 5th grade gave me his Victini because he caught it in an ultra ball and thought it looked ugly. We didn't go to the same middle school so that was the last time I saw him until Senior year of High School because he transferred from his old school to mine. We were in the same class together and got partnered up. He didn't recognize me, which sucked cus' I wanted to reconnect with him. So we just didn't talk. I still have his Victini in my Pokemon Bank to this day.
