the only thing that excites me regarding this game is the music. trainer and gym leader theme sound pretty good. meanwhile the wild theme was completely replaced (though i assume it's being saved for the birds and mewtwo)

All this video proves is that the only thing Masuda is good for is making music. Somewhere in another timeline someone else at Game Freak became the series director after Tajiri and Masuda stuck to music, and that hurts.

Ya know what I just realized? For a Yellow remake, man it really misses the point of having to actually bond with Pikachu over time. Here, it just seems to like the player character immediately, whereas in Yellow, it actually didn't like you at first.

The one mechanic that was established early on and influences the games today is completely botched. Way to fucking go, Gamefreak.

I've been trying to ignore this LGPE stuff because it's not at all interesting to me, but this hurt me inside. They really are never going to go back to that approach of needing to tame seriously unfriendly/dangerous Pokemon when before that was a series staple.

It just doesn’t translate well to 3d imo. Especially with the 1:1 map made for gameboy however I loved watching him miss throwing pokeballs. But I hated GO so it’s no wonder I’m not into this game. It just looks like hot garbage to me. They aren’t using much creative license with the actual region. It looks a lot smaller on a console than I could’ve ever imagined.

They’re making money for releasing the same game 14 years in a row, and they’re raking in cash just fine. If you’re looking for innovation in Pokemon, an actual competitor to the franchise has to first rise up. Competiton breeds new ideas to attract more people.
