obsessing too hard over stab is kind of retarded when you consider that people still used stabs even in inferior offensive stats because stat exp is objectively a more balanced system than evs

yes, ultimately. it isn't, however, something that makes much sense. the go-tos of "muh thunderpunch" are one thing, but what makes razor leaf physical? what makes petal dance special? petal dance even makes contact.

The way I make sense of it is that some special attacks are categorized by a large number of smaller projectiles that individually don't do much.
Like how Blizzard (special) is millions of tiny snow flakes while Ice shard (physical) is a single large piece of ice.
