Do you think Gamefreak ever actually like... look outside of their tiny little bubble and see what other games are doing?
Like are they seeing things like difficulty options and optional tutorials and cut-scene/dialogue skips becoming staples in other RPG's and just intentionally ignoring them?
Or do they genuinely have no idea what other games are doing and are content to remain ignorant?
Like, the stereotype was that Nintendo as a whole used to do that shit. But now even Nintendo's games are being modernised. Pretty much every major Nintendo release on the Switch as had difficulty options and cut-scene or tutorial skips.
Nintendos own RPGs, Fire Emblem and Xenoblade have all the previously mentioned features. Even the RPG that comes closest to Pokemon in terms of gameplay and concept and is exclusive to Nintendo systems now, SMT, has all the above features.
Why do Pokemon games not have any of them yet? Will they ever? Will Pokemon ever actually modernise itself?
