sup, /vp/. I'm about to start pic related. Got it from my ex a long time ago and never played it. I did play omega ruby (and maxed out the dex at 715) and moon (which was pretty underwhelming).
what am I in for? Should I play white first?

Agreed. Great story, actual villain that does actually bad shit. Great post-game content too. I had Black 2, but the differences aren’t too significant by any means.

playing BW1 before is recommended but yes. BW2 are the best ever games you wont get disappointed

i'd recommend playing black/white 1 first, but if you dont have the game or feel like waiting for it to come in from the mail or something you can still play it without feeling in the dark.

There's an entrance to a cave that leads to some ruins in the area of the PWT facility (Pokemon World Tournament).
I suggest you to fully explore it the first time you get there until you reach a very special encounter, because so far that's about the only rational opportunity you'll have to use one of the best bug types in the main game of any generation.

And no, it's not necessary to play the first games. But I'd recommend it if only for the fresh experience of the only time GF dared to force players to use new mons. That being said, if you don't like such a thing you might end up too burned to play White2 later (which is a much better game), so up to you.

The story feels like it had a lot of loose ends

B2W2 are serious contenders for the best games in the series.

The games are true sequels to BW (like GSC to RBY and not just alternate takes like USUM), so it probably would be better to play White first. You could just read through the White story first and likely not miss out on anything serious, though.
