2. Pokemon is a kids anime where characters doesn't age
3. Ash is too young for a relationship since he doesn't even understand relationship.
4. Pokemon will run for indefinite time so if Ash even gets a canon love interest than it has to be somebody that can reappear all future series.
Amourshipping is against all of them. The shipping is too mature that require Ash to grow up and have an actual adult relationship. The fact that writers needed date and kiss to tease this shipping proves it wasn't suitable for the anime. Furthermore, the anime can not make Serena reappear since the anime has to deal with romantic tension involving the kiss that threaten the light hearted nature pokemon anime is aiming for, However, Pokemon anime can run for 20 more year since newer fans replacing the older audience. Which mean, Pokemon anime can not afford a canon love interest that is EXCLUSIVE TO ONLY ONE SERIES. Newer fans will not watch all pokemon series. It doesn't matter how Amourshipper feels about XY, people will not be interested in the series that ends like every other pokemon series. If the anime ever decide to give Ash a canon love interest than it has to be somebody that can appear in the all series so fans of all generation can be familiar with her. Unfortunately the kiss made it complicate for Serena to ever reappear in future series.
That's why you would never see a lip to lip kiss between canon couple in the kids anime before they gets married. Instead, its the girl that had no chance with the protagonist would kiss him on the lips in a kids anime instead of the canon heroine.
