Magmar is one of my favorite Pokemon. He oozes coolness. So why the hell did GF fuck up so badly with Magmortar?

I don't understand how they could've fucked up this badly, Magnezone and Electivire look pretty decent. All they had to do was pay lip-service to the fact that Magmar was bird/monster inspired.
