Check any bulbapedia page for a dragon or reptile pokemon, they almost always try to twist them into dinosaurs.

You tell jokes but you never bothered to wonder what the inspiration behind those canons were. Here's a sauropelta, a tortoise-like semi aquatic dinosaur that used the massive spines on it's shoulders back for self defense, it's name translates to "Reptile cannon" as it looks like it was able to fire blasts of air or water through those horns

Lmao no. Venusaur is a vague frog monster thing, Charizard is a dragon, Blastoise is a giant turtle. People push the idea of dinos too much, it was just a basic design philosophy for some gen 1 mons (and really the idea was Kaiju, not Dinosaurs)
