I know what it's based on, but that shouldn't limit other things its evos could be based on.
The design i posted is based on the Ophanim i believe, which fits Claydol's theme and dex entry better than putting a cape and a crown on it.

It's refreshing to me how simple it is compared to every other Mega which has too much unnecessary crap piled onto it.

I don't care much for Manectric, but it's one of the best Megas because it adds onto the original Pokemon and makes it look "upgraded", without sacrificing design elements and making it hideous. It looks like a smooth and logical transition.

I actually agree on the case of Manectric, but imagine if Mega Kangaskhan was an actual full-grown (or just more developed) baby Kangaskhan? There was a chance to get something completely different out of it.

also if psychic and dark were opposites, the type effectiveness would go both ways, not one way.

Mega Magnezone obviously needs to be a UFO with Tractor Beam as its Ability, which gives it Levitate (which can't be changed by Gravity) and has the effect of Arena Trap. Give it a bit more Special Defense and Speed.

I think Dark works better because Girafarig already gets several Dark moves, and it serves as a nod to the beta Girafarig, where it was Normal/Dark.
