Period. Gold and silver are precious metals. Platinum is a more expensive precious metal.

Diamond and Pearl are common jewelry stones. Crystal fits better in that context. How did this get fucked up so bad, bros?

The title is based on whatever Pokemon is on the cover. Crystal and Platinum actually work pretty well among the other games in their generations because both clearly set the game apart from previous versions. Suicune isn't like Ho-oh and Lugia, and Giratina isn't like Palkia and Dialga.
