It's millenial entitlement. It didn't occur to most of them growing up that Pokemon is first and foremost a Japanese franchise. If they thought it was one way growing up, it MUST remain that way or it shatters their world view and their childhoods that they cherish so much that they carry them into adulthood are "ruined."

There’s examples of this all over the place. Almost every localization compares Pineco to pinecones despite Japan never doing so. It’s supposed to resemble a type of acorn.
