What's the general consensus on talking pokemon?
On meowth, it seems only natural, but on any other (non-psychic/legendary) pokemon it comes off as weird. In the anime, Meowth was given the ability to speak mainly so that audiences can learn what other pokemon are saying (I assume), and it worked well then.
The only other known speaking pokemon (if I'm correct) are:
>Clefairy in the manga (to which, I remain mostly unfamilar)
>Sun/Moon's Rotom, which is only through a device
>Detective Pikachu, which is essentially the same thing as Meowth
I think the notion of trading fighting ability to speak is fair enough. I think having now 3-4 speaking pokemon is the right amount for how long the series has existed. I think it should primarily remain a 'fringe' thing.
