This was the last good pokemon game. After Crystal, pokemon became too complicated for its own good (it's a kids' game after all) and power creep set in.

This anon speaks the truth.
It was generally uphill from gen 1 to BW2, up until that game I always thought the best Pokemon game was the best, with a few exceptions (during RS I thought Crystal was the best and during DP I thought Emerald was the best).
Then the 3DS era came around and now I just remember the good old days like a boomer and wonder where it all went wrong.
