I don't understand people who call all the gym leaders and pokemon by their english names only to call him Green but it's not mine or anyone else's issue what they call what

It's "Green" in the jap version, it's always been "Green" in Japan.

Because the initial releases of the first gen of games were Red and Green in Japan, but Red and Blue in English.

To add on to what anon said, international versions got called red and blue as they used blue's engine, with red/green's encounter tables/exclusives/trades.

Originally, Japan released Red and Green, then Pokemon Blue was the third version.

In English, they truncated it into Red and Blue.
