If someone likes Rowlet, they would root for Decidueye, therefore, Decidueye's popularity is due to the fact that people genuinely like the Pokemon, not simply because he rounds out a type trifecta that has never really been something worth considering prior to Ultimate. His grass typing is coincidental, but otherwise not very relevant considering his design places more priority on him being an archer rather than him being a grass type, where as a Pokemon like Ivysaur or Sceptile have their concepts revolving entirely around being a plant
dinosaur and a grass lizard/gecko thing.
