Why in Origins they didn't give it to Red since Alain would have got the X the next year?

Mega Y is completely unmemorable. It's just a "cool" expansion on Charizard and has nothing else to offer or balance its design. Mega X is at least so edgy it's funny, potentially controversial, so that's worth something.

Y is basically just Charizard but sleeker. X completely changes the color scheme and gives it the Dragon typing that Charizard fanboys had been clamoring for for years.

Which is what most Megas should be. Y is unfortunately missing the Dragon typing so it didn't bring the hype.

These are all pokemon that get shilled because they are shit in the games, otherwise no one would like them.

while great pokemon like Venusaur and Charizard Y don't get much advertisement or shilling because they sell themselves.

Y feels like a natural progression as if they wanted to enhance Charizard’s design like an actual evo
X feels like a mutation(same anatomy as base Charizard but with a couple tweaks) and is only beloved for it’s new type

That alone says to me that Y was probably intended to be the only Mega Evolution Charizard got. Why they had to make X so massively different I have no idea. It could be a completely different Pokémon.
