Change for the sake of change is asinine because people who play a game like what it is or they wouldn't be playing it. Other games (side series included) are for change, not the main series.

The others would be nice to fix shit while still keeping it in the vein of what they want the series to be, but the returning ones are required and should have been present in this return to Kanto. There was no reason they shouldn't have done so with the 3DS as they no longer faced the same limitations of the past that actually saw them be removed.
X/Y was excusable because it was the first 3D game but after that it was complete bullshit.
