Greninja has a wide, iconic appeal, biggest fanbase for a non-genwun pokémon right now, astounding merch sales (and not including from base stages), anime stellar appearances. Heck, I was surprised to see one of my local cable network companies to promote their family friendly channels pack using Ash and Greninja. I don't ever see the owl doing that.

Meanwhile, Greninja's rap in spanish has over 9.5M views! (which is a testament to how huge the frog is in latin america) , the portuguese one has over 2.9M, while a bunch of other videos including smash ones, anime fights, shipping, AMVs and minecraft models of Greninja have all over 3M views. The differences are ENORMOUS.
