What is the best Series of the Ashime?

For me it's XY/XYZ it came out around the time I was getting back into Pokemon. I also remember enjoying Diamond and Pearl when it was coming out.

I will have to say DP, since the villain arc for it was executed better, AND it has the best rival Ash has ever faced, even if that totally did not play out the way it should have. Team Flare was good, but Galactic had better presence. This is only relative, though, since these still have the same flaw that they do in the games: they have nothing to do with the regular plot, which is a shame since this is the only time anything really happens in any of these piles of garbage.

XYZ was the better season.

Oh please, the only reason you like XY/Z because it had Serena as love interest! A bland girl with no defining traits.
But we hate XY/Z series for actual legitimate reason such as Boring group chemistry, one dimensional characters, forced shipping, zero competition, bland rivals, lack of laughable humor, unnecessary release of Ash's pokemon, Alain pandering , wasting Ash's chance of mega evolution and the infuriating climax of Kalos league.

I understand them from the point that they cannot write a heroic narrative properly. What SM tells me, however, is that they can't write SoL properly either, since they had to insert action anyway. They have no writing ability AT ALL.

D/P wasn't any better. The most you could say is that Dawn had more of an influence in expanding Ash's horizons, which was really a continuation from what happened with May, though that was on a lesser scale. For the most part, though, it was the same kind and amount of interaction as he's had anyone else and even with any other character they've put in since then. It's bland and uneventful.

Seriously ? DP had better lead girl ,better rivals, more competition, decent humor, better group chemistry. actually competition, better development , justified shipping, no release of Ash's pokemon, no favoritism toward sudden character and less infuriating league climax.
XY/Z wasn't just boring, it was the series where Ash never able to beat his main rival despite having every right defeat him. Basically imagine DP ending with Paul winning the Sinnoh league and Ash releasing Infernape which is basically how XY/Z ended.

Don't blame you. Especially since it wasn't all that different with basically just Ash going to another region to fight gyms and lose another league like the previous series. Outside the whole Paul thing, DP was just the same thing.

Well, if I'm going to compare it to XYZ, then yes, Serena is the biggest pile of nothing that isn't Misty or Iris. Of course it's better to actually have a rival than to have no rival at all, and Alain was introduced too late for that to matter too much. He still wasn't a direct challenge to Ash's ability the same as Paul was. (again, even if that didn't turn out the way it should) The argument was specifically to one dimensional characters, which I will still say all of Ash's companions are one dimensional.

Completely and utterly wrong, I am having doubt about you actually watching the previous series.
Ash had companion with multi-dimensional personality such as May, Brock , Misty and Dawn. None of their personality was never one track and one note. You can never see them in just one way. For example : May who is nether submissive and aggressive but she can act as aggressive as Misty and as submissive as Serena at any time. She simply didn't just stuck with one character archetype. She could be aggressive, Submissive , airheaded , overconfident . Same thing was with Brock who act as mature intelligent leader but also become gullible and stupid in front of a girl.

The argument is depth. They could have all the moods in the world, but it means nothing if their character is only ever one thing. All of them are only one thing. There isn't more to any of them. Or at least it isn't compelling, that it makes me see them in a new light. No, these characters are always the same no matter what they do. Technicalities do not save them, not to me. You can feel what you want, but they will never be real characters to me.

At first May was rude, selfish, lazy, whiny, self centered girl that disliked pokemon and only wanted to use them as a excuse for travel. But she later become caring, selfless, hardworking girl that genuinely loved pokemon. The May from the first half of AG and the May from the later half wasn't same person since she actually grown. Same goes with Brock who appeared as a cold hearted gym leader only to become one of Ash's best friend. Even Gary wasn't the same as he was at the beginning.
The character of OS, AG and DP did grow and changed. They didn't remained the same as the characters from BW and XY.
