So we know the games are gonna be shallow as fuck, but it did make me wonder: Knowing abilities aren't a thing in LGPE, which Mega Evolutions are actually worth using? Charizard X changes the typing of Charizard at least, but Charizard Y is just a buffed version of Charizard. Which of the original 150 benefit the most from just Mega Evolving?

I'm probably not going to use Megas aside from Beedrill, Pidgeot, Slowbro, and Aerodactyl. However, if Megas can follow you, I might change my mind. After all, Megas have walking/running animations.

Held items also aren't in LGPE.

Megas still get stat boosts though, so they're basically straight upgrades.

Mega Gyarados is one of the few dark types available in kanto and it’s way better than trash like alolan persian

I can't say no to these stats.

Why go for the offensive Pokemon (Charizard) or the defensive pokemon (Blastoise) when you can get an the mixed offensive/defensive tanky Pokemon?

Besides, losing Thick Fat isn't really a big deal, Venusaur was great even without Mega.

Alakazam is still boss, Gyarados doesn't need mold breaker with no abilities, Slowbro is barely nerfed, the rest take a hit imo

Very good point about Slowbro, that thing is rediculous tank, Shell Armor just made its bulk that much less exploitable.

If there were no Megas the top Pokémon would be same as in Kanto Classic in Gen 6. So Snorlax, Zapdos, Machamp, Clefable, Slowbro, Alakazam, Gengar, Nidoking, some Magnetons, Jolteons and Venusaurs. And maybe Articuno for Sheer Cold. With Megas now we also have Charizard, Blastoise, Pinsir, Beedrill, Aerodactyl, Gyarados, and Kangaskhan. Which ones would do the best in the previously mentioned top Pokémon.
