There we have it, folks. In addition to Venusaur’s walking animation, we have official proof from GF themselves that Bulba and its evolutions are frogs:

Even if I accepted that premise there is no direct statement that Bulbasaur is a frog, only that the Kanto starters are based on keeping small animals SUCH AS frogs, lizards and turtles as pets

Lizards have bumps everywhere my dude. And they squat while they walk, that's what gives them their unique swagger. Plus Bulbasaur has a little stub for a tail.
