I honestly hope the "fire/ground-types can't touch water" meme dies. Outside of a few exceptions like slugma, there really shouldn't be any reason that just touching water exploits a weakness. If it stays, you would have to explain how a creature whose biology isn't that different than a regular animal's can live without drinking.
Or we can just ignore bullshit like that in a series where creatures breathe fire and fully-grown water-types can be hurt by a water gun attack
