Exposing their developing minds to the games, anime, music, movies, merch, etc. causes them to become psychologically dependent on the franchise into adulthood (and thus represent a reliable source of revenue)
That explains why Game Freak has been so adamant to tap into the modern braindead children market in recent generations - they need a fresh group of young minds to trick them and keep them dependent on the franchise years down the line.
Regarding LGPE, GF realized the kids who grew up with gen 1 are now nostalgia-ridden adults (thanks to GF's earlier successes) and wants to cash in on them again.
Glad you woke up and realized that "disease" you've had for so long was all a product of marketing. Don't let a virtual monster collecting game from your childhood define who you are in the present.
